"Hank"
Known to many by his barn nickname, Hank; this ridiculously kind, smart, and very athletic 2019 Blue Roan Stallion has a Hall of Fame pedigree, an incredible disposition, and tons of personality. With direct lines to Colonel Freckles, Doc Barr, Doc O’Lena, Shining Spark, Smart Little Lena, and Provocative Cowboy he is a “prize possession” and a highly sought after stallion based on his breeding alone.
MRI Sparked N Blue, “Hank” traveled all the way from Montana as a long yearling to be with us. Bringing him to our farm was one of the best decisions Todd and I have ever made. Hank is the complete package. With a big hip, short back, solid bone, and four black feet, this blue roan stallion is as beautiful as they come. However, what sets him apart is his unbelievably kind and gentle disposition. He is beyond respectful on the ground and in the saddle. He maintains his space on the ground and waits for direction from his leader; and under saddle, he is as smooth as they come, catty as can be, crazy athletic, and a quick learner. Blend all of this together, and we knew quickly that Hank was our once-in-a-lifetime horse. Todd started Hank under saddle as a two year old and he was more than we could have dreamed for. He rode right off; never offered a buck, never hesitated, was trusting, and eager to learn.
One would describe Hank as an old soul. He is a ridiculously patient, smart, and athletic five year old Stallion with outstanding breeding. With legendary horses like Colonel Freckles, Doc Barr, Doc O’Lena, Shining Spark, Smart Little Lena, and Provocative Cowboy, in his family tree he is the perfect combination of pedigree, confirmation, and personality. In addition, Hank’s sire, Colonel Doc Bar Chex was the 2000 World’s Greatest Horseman Competition Reserve Champion with winnings in cutting, reining, and reined cow horse competition. His maternal Grand Sire, Blue Spark Olena, was the 2005 URCHA Year End Reserve Open Hackamore Champion, the 2004 URCHA Year-end Show Open Snaffle Bit Champion, and the 2004 MRCHA Open Snaffle Bit Futurity Finalist.
Hank’s foals have consistently been the very best version of him. Within days they halter with ease, allow us to groom them and pick up all four feet. They are born calm, trusting, and friendly. By the time they are three months old they lead like a champ, enjoy being bathed, ground tie for the farrier and for grooming, and load on the trailer like an old pro. When we are not handling them, we keep a chair next to the pasture because watching them float as they run, cut, and slide stop is something we could watch for hours. Hank passes on his intelligence, athletic ability, and disposition to his foals. In addition, since he is Homozygous Black and Roan, EEaaRNRN all of Hank’s foals are blessed with a blanket of roan.
